    AR-15 AIL/Servo Stock Installation Help

    Hi all,

I don't have much experience with altering AR-15's so bear with me if these seem like stupid questions. I have a lower which had a Rock River Arms CAR adjustable stock on it and want to swap this out for the AIL/Servo A-Cat stock (fixed not the new adjustable one). Upon trying to do this tonight it appears I need to also purchase a different (A2?) buffer tube? My questions are:

    1. Can I use the parts in the CAR stock (buffer and spring) and just buy an A2 buffer tube?
    2. Do I need a buttstock spacer that is required for an A2 stock or is that not needed for the AIL stock?
    3. I'm guessing the lock plate and castle nut will no longer be needed?
    4. Where is the cheapest place to buy an A2 buffer tube?

    Thanks
    CT

    1. Best to run a rifle buffer and spring in an A2 tube.
    2. Not sure, but you can get a spacer from a few people for $10-15
    3. Yep, not required, as the A2 tube has a screw at the end of the stock and the AIL stock comes with a custom screw.
    4. Get the complete buffer, tube, spring, spacer from Gunsnz.com, On-Target.co.nz, NZAR15.com or NZRAC.co.nz. Check for prices.

Thanks dogmatix very helpful. I didn't realise the spring/buffer in the CAR would be different to an A2 so i'm glad you brought that to my attention.
