    AR15 Buffer tube help

    Hey

The buffer retainer pin on my AR has seized up and cant seem to push the thing down to remove the buffer and spring...
Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this problem?

    Any advice is appreciated!

soak it with a penetrating oil. then stick it in a vise block and give it a light tap with a punch. Never have had one stick myself in all y years of owning AR's Has it rusted ?? You couldalso try to turn the buffer 45 degs might help it slip past the retainer, mine do anway

Thanks for the advice mikee, ill try some penetrating oil. I think its sticking from all the crap steel case ammo I shoot through it.... makes a mess inside the receivers

possibly that too, if you want to remove the retainer and spring completely back it out a bit more than a touch

I like gimps idea. The buffer tube is the only thing holding the spring and plunger in there. Back it off a touch, it could have tightened under use and jammed it up. If bulk crap steel cased ammo has actually corroded the thing up (highly unlikely) then a stuck buffer retainer pin will be the least of your worries.
