ar15 suitable suppressors & adjustable gasblock

Whats everyones go to suppressor for an ar15? I have a NEA 14.5" carbine which will need a muzzle forward can. I am considering a waitaki engineering suppressor or a DPT with a stainless steel baffle. Any feedback from the above? Is an adjustable gas block worth while doing also?

    Cheers

I run the DPT muzzle forward can on my NEA, good sound suppression and cheap too.

Make sure you get a properly proportioned sized suppressor for an AR15, they need space for the expanding gas or else you will experience excessive gas blow back out of the chamber when it cycles. An adjustable gas block will help with bolt speed control when it cycles with the extra gas pressure but the right sized suppressor is the most important step.

I have already spoken to darren this morning, he did not specify different sizes just muzzle forward and overbarrel which the latter won't fit. Cheers

Check with the manufacturer and advised them of the application. Waitaki make them for AR15's so they are probably designed to suit that application.
I fitted an old model DPT, not the current modular, to mine with an adjustable gas block and it was a pig for blowing shit in your face and eyes. Switched to an ODL and it's a whole different gun as this brand was made to suit the AR.

Depends on volume of shooting - for a hunting rifle DPT for rapid Waitaki - I have both the waitkai worked well on my NEA 14.5"
Being over gunned is under rated.

What was the best for noise? It will mainly be a hunting rifle but may have the odd time where 20 or 30 rounds go quickly like at turkeys etc

As has been said, an adjustable gas block is a big plus with any can.
Odl is the best can I have used on a ar by far-but the price is a bit eye watering unless you come across one second hand.
On a hunting rifle I would pick a dpt out of the two options you listed, I'm very impressed with my waitaki after a few cases of ammo through it but it's heavy

The waitaki is a 100g heavier , is that the only downside? I will take my rifle in and see if a grub screw can be fitted in the block. Cheers

that about sums it up, both have a lot more blowback than the odl but I couldn't say what is worse and to my ear they both sound about the same

at the end of the day I think you would be happy with either paired with an adjustable gas system(home done with a grub screw is just fine) but 100g is a real about of weight to be talking about if all else is equal-espeasally on the end of your barrel

Fair call about the weight on the end and for the sake of 50 bucks i think id rather have the dpt so i can clean it and add baffles
