I think the DPT is about 300g once you get the model with the stainless barrel so only 50g lighter than the Waitaki. Both are good choices.

Speaking of NEA, does anyone know how to get the rail off? ive tried twisting it counter clockwise (advised by NEA) and didnt work. maybe just real bugged up with grease or something?

    Cheers
I've not long had a core15 Magpul that's got a 16" barrel & have gone with a Gunworks 41mm dia suppressor that's 4" forward & about 7" back from the end of the barrel (270mm O/A. you can have it custom made for you rifle) & have found it great to use compared to suffering from unsuppressed muzzle blast. For $340 it's very competatively priced & had great service.

I will follow this with interest as I want one for my AR15. Forward of the barrel will be quieter but longer, poorer balanced and more un-wieldy. There is a gas buster charging handle for AR15s that is supposed to stop the blow back, but I have not tried it.

they work ok but no better than just building up the same area of the charging handle with gasket silicone

MAE has a few muzzle forward options. One is a light weight, full steel, muzzle forward unit. quieter than the gunworks, dpt and waitaki i have tried

Now we are making the decision difficult, do you have a link for the supressor you mention?

Side by side comparison, best lightweight suppressor i've seen is the Sonic 45. Built similar to the dpt but has steel baffel inserts so doesn't get the wear on the baffles like my DPT.
My mates 30cal sonic was quieter on my .223 than my .22cal DPT. Only downside is the sonic 45 only comes in 1/2 x 20, the sonic 35 comes in 1/2 x 28
