Thread: ATEC Optima vs Maniatis Braked Suppressors

Anyone had a chance to compare these two suppressors with the muzzle break end caps on? Looking to grab one or the other with the muzzle brake end cap for my new 'lighter weight' 7PRC build. Not a fan of muzzle brakes as I hunt with dogs alot but still want to redcue recoil as much as possible.

Have not compared them, I do have the Maniatis braked suppressor on my Rem mag, seems to work well my 13 year old daughter can shoot it happily enough, it does seem fractionally louder then the dpt I compared it to but the dpt was running an extra baffle so not really apples with apples.
happy enough with it, would happily run the ATEC as well I just got the Maniatis for a steal that was my only swaying factor.

I have the Atech MegaHertz 2. With both end caps, I am not sure it makes much difference on a 20lb gun, but it is the quietest suppressor.
I have used and is now well past 1000 shots thru it on my 6.5Saum
Still looks pretty good inside I really like the Atec but for long range precision fit the A-lock adapter permanently to suppressor. I had wandering zero using as quick detach.

Mate used the a tech with brake on his 300wm, you could see the bullet strikes with it on, his rifle was around 10lbs. I use the non braked version as well as dpt and hardy. Subjectively the a tech is quietest

Mk2 absolutely will be.

While the optima isn't in the comparison, the atec is way ahead of the maniatais in every way.
I nearly got a maniatis recently, just because I never had one and am always keen to try something different, but after talking to people who had used them and the review comparisons, I just went back to Hardy.

Compairnf like to like I had more luck with the Maniatis than the Hardy. Maniatis are a small, light, short muzzle forward can and i think people expect to much. When i run my Atec with one baffle its teh same forward length and is very similar to the Maniatis which is sufficient but not superquiet. The braked maniatis however was very impressive for recoil. however Id love to buy a ATEC baffle to suit the brake but always seem out of stock.

That R&R test is old but pretty good, should be updated although it doesn't appear that there's been any real innovation in the suppressor market in NZ since then anyway


When you compare, for example, the DPT 4 baffle (overbarrel) with the Maniatis alloy, the DPT is better in every metric except 2mm longer muzzle forward which is really more or less identical.


Why would you pay $50 more for a heavier, louder, longer suppressor that is functionally the same length muzzle forward?


Pull 1 baffle out of the DPT and it's probably still quieter, it's cheaper, shorter and lighter.

This is sort of off-topic. I don't know about braked suppressors. I don't think I want one - intuitively seems like they'd be asking to get clogged with misc bush

Which DPT is 75mms forward?

EDIT: I see the new ones are longer now. DPT are 100X less painfull to deal with for what its worth
