    Barrel thread

Looking at buying a second hand rifle and want to thread it to 5/8-24 to suit my current can.

I recently sent away an old Winchester M70 and there wasn’t enough meat on barrel for 5/8-24 so had to go 14x1.

So my question is what rifles/barrels can take that thread so I can keep an eye out for those specific ones.

    Cheers.

14x1 is what I thread to as more barrels will be thick enough to accept that thread If youve got a 14x1 rifle and suppressor go with that. 5/8 is a pretty fat muzzle these days
may be sarcastic may be a bad joke

As long as the muzzle has a diameter of 17mm+ you will be fine to put a 5/8 thread on it.

14x1 seems to be very common,
    i have 223, 243, 358 all in 14x1.

I've seen quite a number of Howa Varmint rifles come accross my bench with 5/8x24 thread from the factory.

You'll be looking at rifles with heavier than normal hunter profiled barrels.

    Gidday Darren,
I have a mates super lite in 6.5x55 that he is going to buy one of your cans and get fitted.
If he cuts it to 19 inches can he use a 14x1 thread and have enough for a shoulder?

My superlite 6.5 was cut at 18" and 14x1 was fine for my DPT
