Nice Danny, good to hear a first hand impression, classic caliber & out of interest what does it weigh scoped? Is the mag locked in?
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

bare rifle is about 3kg from memory, I'll have to weigh it when I'm home next....
the mag is a bit like a sako a7 in that you push up whilst releasing the magazine, I think it would be pretty hard to accidentally release the mag.
it's a double stack that holds 5 rounds in all but 300win mag calibers, the action can be top fed which is nice.

I'll keep that in mind, can't see Sharon letting you spend that much money on rifle or components

Interweb suggests 1:11 twist, have checked stability on the Berger bullet stability calculator and the 178 eldms should stabalise just fine they are in the middle of the most stable section of the scale.

Trigger is very nice, easy to adjust similar to a sako trigger via a grub screw accessible via the mag well without having to disassemble the action.
I have adjusted mine down from the factory setting and its still very consistent and predictable, I'm hesitant to go much lower without a trigger pull gauge but its plenty light. I wouldn't mind a set/hair trigger but I'm not keen to adjust it too light for fear of spring loaded grub screws flying out and the unkown factor of what the factory trigger might or might not do if adjusted lower than reccomended (saftey not working, slam fire etc) there just isn't much info about them yet.
As above it is still a very good trigger with zero creep.

Well Danny I thought your new 06 would have been a Sako or the likes, but that sure looks good although different. One thing for sure is it can shoot. As MD said you will find most bullets and weights will shoot into a usable group at a reasonable range.
I have shot over a 100 deer with a few different 06 rifles (mostly a BAR) and found it a excellent caliber, my 300 win mag is just a 30 06 on steroids.
Remember when you do you load development to keep in mind that SF isn't to stable with varying temperatures, especially those hot summer temps you can get in Canterbury. Look forward to see what your hand loads can do and s few animals on the deck.
