    bergara scout 7mm08

just picked up a bergara scout in 7mm08 for 499 at the local hunting and fishing, i really wanted 308 but hey $499 cant complain.
now does anybody use this rifle in this caliber can reccomend factory ammo they tend to like , would be great.
also how do you find your scout whatever caliber it may be, I've always like the idea of one but couldn't justify the rrp tag.
thinking of scoping it down the track but might try the open sights for now as it will be a bush gun, looking at a burris or leupold 2-7 to keep it light.
    thoughts ?

Been thinking of getting one myself, but can't justify it as I use my shortened 223 for nearly everything. I was thinking 308, a red dot for bush hunting and DPT suppressor would make a nice set up.

I had the 44 mag version with an aimpoint red dot and dpt suppressor, it was surprisingly accurate. Heavier and no shorter than my kimber .308 though, so I sold it on.

That's my gripe with single shots, most weigh more than a comparable bolt action plus have shit stock geometry

I find this true also, especially the weight thing. However what you often get is a cheaper rifle that will break down and fit in a pack e.g. Baikals, and some models of Bergara

Had a play with a haenel single in serious shooters the other week. That was a damn nice little rifle, light short and handy. Dunno if they are worth the 2k+ price tag though

Got a bergera 708, dpt, and Leopold 1.5-5...yea handy for behind the seat on road trips when I don't want to take the Sako.. Only gripe is it's weight and it doesn't break down... Shoots my reloads well, and really nice to shoot..

That haenel in serious shooters is nice, but not for the coin. My wife nearly bought it!

I use my Bergara 7mm-08 for everything, I have a Leupold scope on it. Shoot a heap of animals and it is very accurate. I use Remington Core lokt ammo, I get really tight groups with it on the range and the projectile mushrooms beautifully, it hits hard and kills quick.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Yes you did and it will never be for sale again as with sub sonic ammo it goes Phut and there's a new hole all the way through the strainer post at 20 mtrs away
At 100 its stills shots ok.
