Yip for sure.
Yip for sure.
Mmmm........ Mountain rifle.... must have light rifle in a hard kicking magnum biffing out heavy projectiles, to shoot at game that is miles away that may be difficult to get a second shot on, or find if the shot doesn't put it down on the spot.
Did I miss something?
felt recoil is subjective. Just because a rifle is light doesn't mean its untameable. Talk to @Kiwi Greg
Value for money would have to be a Tikka T3 super lite.
Top it off with a Leupold VX3 and some Talley one piece rings and you would have a seriously light rifle for the price.
A muzzle break will likely be the next purchase you make though.
Cheers! Trueflite:-)
Oh yea my apologies for the p!&s poor addition on my part but you get the drift of how much you can save $.
The reason I settled on win mag is for 3 reasons. 2) I've always wanted one. 2) factory ammunition is widely available anywhere. 3) stabilises the higher BC projectiles which it's intended to use better.
Photos to come.
Accuracy international mate. allll day
Thats farken easy, Best Alpine rifle in one word Tim
Weatherby Mk V ultralight in 30-06 TIM "Terminator Improved Max" ( yes I know that sounds a bit pooo weee, so tim it is ) was a 308 that I had Greg @ Terminator ream out to "tim" stuck a T1 brake on, Talley rings with a Swarvo 3.5 -18 Z5. Weights under 6.75lb and has a 178 A-max ( I wanted to mag feed ) doing 2975fps, so pretty much win mag.
This thing has just one job - A light weight 0-600 yard hunting rifle & it farken blitz'es Deer
Top - bottom. Kimber Bush stumpy, Sako 260 Carbon light & Tim
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
I've got a Sauer 404 in 30-06. I have to say I'm very impressed with the build, design, engineering, accuracy and quality of the rifle and also the support from the manufacturer. I also like the fact you can strip it down in seconds and reassemble it with no change in zero, ideal if you want to pack it in a rucksack to climb with it or travel with it in a compact case.
The rifle is pretty light too, is very tactile and easy to shoot. There's also some good design features: magazine lock, easy adjustable trigger pull and position, de-cocking safety catch etc etc.
I have also shot the Blaser R8 and R8 Professional, both are very nice but the straight pull isn't for me personally.
Whats the budget?
Want a cheap one or custom... so many options.
Rem 700 LR Tac are good shooters.
Rem 700 SPS with a T2, bedding and new stock just as good...
Tikka with a Carbon stock...
Take your 300 WSM and have it throated for single load MAX OAL eith 230 bergers etc.... might be the most pragmatic.
Warm Barrels!
Hornady precision hunter with the 200gr ELDX is or the 180 gr SSTs
I would buy a Cooper back country, for a light weight, high end MT rifle, my favourite gun store, just got one in, cal 300 win mag, hope its still there next days off, as I am interested in them,
I likely go 7mm mag or another .264 win, as I have a 300 hurt and holler already in a M700.
