    I thought my viper pst had alright glass, until i looked through an acog. So i bought a couple of them and now im just dissapointed whenever i look through the vortex. Two different types of scopes i know but my money will probably be going on the accupoint range if i was in the market for another big scope.

    Low light performance and European scopes go hand in hand . American customers often have different requirements of their scopes compared to the European customers . Low light ability is very high on the European requirement list ,but not so much on the Americans, often because of their season laws and hours of allowable shooting .
    Scopes that are aimed at the American market often out perform all others in a number of factors and are very good scopes , but if you really want low light performance , look towards Europe .

    Whatever you get get a 50mm plus if low light performance is a priority. Even relatively crap scopes can do well if the objective is big enough.

    I figured the mk4 and vx3 must have had the same glass. Wrong!!!

    I will check out the euro scopes. But i cant justify Swaros Leica and S&B. maybe if i hunted every week. I wish!

    Worst case scenario i end up with vortex viper which i know are "good" but i will check out ziess, minox etc

    Cheers

    Pete

    I guess i should clarify my previous post for you.

    Acog= superb glass
    Viper pst= poor in comparison

    As said, different types of scopes for different purposes but if you own both you will see why i shudder when i use the vortex. Damn good glass! Damn you to hell! I still like the vortex mrad reticle though and the feel and accuracy of the "clicky bits" on the viper. I despise the way you set zeros on the vortex, 3 fricken screws to unwind to lift the turret and set it!? Give me lift up and set turrets anyday.
