+1 for Marlin 795. I have one, scoped and it is a great rifle that isn't fussy about what it is fed.

I have never shot a CZ so this isn't really valid but the Marlins I have used always have good accuracy so if its good and cheaper they cant be a bad way to go.

Just don't get a Remington 597(from bitter experience)
    Toby likes this.
Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

Go the Marlin. I shoot with mudgripz on regular basis and helped convert him to the Marlin semi after him being a bolt action shooter for many years, thought he still takes his bolt action sometimes. He did a big test about a year and a half ago for a magazine article and the Marlin 60 beat most 22lr's up to about the $1500 mark. The 60 was followed closely by the 795. Someone on another forum complained that it was not fair comparing the semis with the bolt actions (a 10/22 owner) for accuracy not knowing that the 60/795 was a semi. The Marlin 60 series outsells the Ruger 10/22 worldwide 3:2. I own the 795 he used in the test.

The best semi I have owned was a Ruger10-22 stock standard who said you have to buy all the extras to get them to shoot

I have a welther g22 that can be shoot left and right handed.

Its a nice little semi .22. Good having the weight at your shoulder when you settle into how it handles.

I have found that i use my bolt action when i use a .22 which is only possum shooting so i am thinking about selling it if you have any interest

Shouldn't be, tube capacity is 14, and the E-cat restriction is >15 for .22 and >7 for everything else

10/22 Ruger for me Trigger spring kit then new buffer . Mine is so quiet you can not hear it 5 mtrs away. 10 shot accuracy hard to say as most in same hole at 40 mtrs with subs It is an amazing gun and I can't understand how people question the accuracy of them Mine has had thousands of rounds thru it . It's 15 yrs old I can not remember a FTC or jam up ever. Shortened recently to 12 inches and rethreaded no difference at all to performance just had to re sight in. Price for these is good extras cheap and easy to get anywhere

My Ruger my dad got when he was a teenager (and gave to me a few years ago) I think he said he got it in the 60's? It's only ever been cleaned with brake cleaner, if at all, thrown in a big steel box, and left for years at a time. That thing is nice and accurate.

My stainless Ruger, that is maybe 5+ years old now? Killed thousands of bunnies with it, but now it shoots like shit. Especially in the Hogue stock (I may have over tighetened that or something). Even in the wood stock it live ins (as a result) it still shoots like shit.

It seems weird to me only having one action screw. I wonder if that's got something to do with it. There's nothing holding the back of the action down.

I whinge about mine, but you could do a lot worse than a 10/22.

Sorry to drag up and old thread.

His brand spanking suppressedt3 308 is still sitting in my safe unused.

Has bought himself a property back here in south nz and is keen again on a 22.

Within reason money no object but he is liking the look of the cz 512?
What else should we be looking at in a classy new semi?
