I've been considering a 795 instead of the 10/22, I like the bedding system, barrel setup, aftermarket stock choices, and the LRBHO better than 10/22.

But minus the break/compensator/loudener and a thread for suppressor instead.

    Reloaders are the NZ agents?

Need to sort out a left or ambi stock. (if its ambi I can make sure it doesnt seize up)

Can a round be ejected from the chamber and can you prevent a new one from chambering? Or are you stuck with one up the spout safety on until you empty the mag?

What's the stock 795 trigger like? Any issue with running subs?

Easiest way is to twist the end of the tube to release it/the pressure, much like taking the mag out of the 795.

Pretty horrible American anti lawsuit job but easily fixed. I just used a 3.5" floppy shutter spring. If you want then you can put a grub screw in the trigger nose or add a lump of kneedit and file it off. Should cost about a $1 to fix. You can polish a few of the surfaces if you want but I didn't bother. Mine is fine with subs.

You can lock the bolt open and apply the safety, then sneek your hand along underneath and twist off. Fingers are back from the end and along side the barrel. Tube mags tend to be a pain with a suppressor though.

One thing to remember with an accurate rifle is 1 shot 1 kill so the 15 shot tube can last a while. Not like the 10x 22 shots required by something with those numbers in it. One of our group finally gave up on his Ruger and hasn't looked back, ... he did try holding out.

a tube mag is workable but given the choice between tube or detachable when buying a new gun I wouldn't have to stop to consider the issue
