Talking to big brother as I write this...he says she might be ugly but she still performs...no complaints although he has smoothed the action down and modified the stock ever so slightly He has removed the pickaninny rail...not necessary.

He has shortened the LOP to 121/2 inches, 2.7 Leopold Firedot scope, 30ml tube and action is (in his words) slick as snail snot on wet roof! If it could cook he would marry it...(he's been in Oz too long)!! A bit loud but no louder than his Ruger 77 Mark II .306...he got some aromatherapy today firing a Tikka .338 at a target 300 metres away...fanblimingtastic...

Hand loads for the .308 are 150grain round nose soft point Hornaby bullets, 43 grains of ADI powder 2206H and is printing a twenty cent piece at 80 metres. He wants to go up to 180grain, hollow point round nose...should be really good deer stoppers...

    1. I have known women like that. 2. He has five foot long arms?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

I bought one but could not stand how far the mag stuck out for only ten rounds, don't get wrong-ten is plenty but it does stick out a long way for a ten shot mag.
Sold it without even blooding it and built up a scout style blr.
It is my understanding that a prototype (fitted with an M14 magazine) was taken to Gunsite to get their instructor's opinions but that the guys at Gunsite advised Sturm Ruger not to use the M14 system because there are too many cheap and nasty clones on the market, hence the adoption of a licensed Accuracy International magazine design.

AR10magazines? the original ones with the dodgy reputation or the new ones that apparently require a different mag well design? Plenty of chances for confusion there!
A good shot at close range beats a 'hit" at a longer range.
