What is the advantage of this type of rifle in NZ, when compared to Schultz and Larsen M97 or Sauer 201/202, or even Sako 85's for that matter ? Those three manufacturers make very accurate and sturdy rifles and I can vouch particularly for the S&L and Sako reliability and accuracy.

Is it just that these are so fancy, or do they have some attribute that makes them greatly superior for our hunting?

The action cycling is very fast compared to traditional bolt throw and you can maintain your cheek weld to be have a fast follow up shot...

S and L are pure sex. Don't worry bout the follow up shot just practice hitting it the first time.

I didn't mean to imply the follow up shot was due to a poorly placed first one, although that happens to all of us if you hunt long enough,... but on a mob of thar or pigs the rapid cycling could be handy.

There are more of us. It looks like one of those really old Browning semi shotties with the huge hump after the wrist. Puketastic

Do looks really matter if form follows function?
Not that I have any experience with one to know if the function is any good!

Form and function do not have to be mutually exclusive.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
