Well this is a storm in a teacup. Almost any Action will allow water in After a few hours in the rain.

Specially, ammo in the magazine will get wet.

It’s not ideal foraccuracy or safety but we can work with it.

I use my safety a lot but am not so sure about doing it for dryness. Wouldn’t a drop of water wick in around the bolt face and be pulled straight in between brass and chamber by capillary / surface tension ?

If your worried Just carry a piece of cleaning cloth with some oil on it in a zip lock bag to give it a wipe down at night and a bore snake.

Yep I always do that - not worried about corrosion so much as water in the chamber/barrel when firing

@Jit was along with his tricked up Tikka 7mmRM - the chamber stayed pretty much completely dry. There was quite a difference. I do agree though that probably the thing is just to be aware of it and check from time to time. Or maybe the black plastic bag - I mean, these were quite extreme conditions with high winds and heavy driving rain. So you know.

OK. I wasn't there. Interesting if the Tikka seemed more watertight.

I'd go for a pull through with a fluffy dry patch in this situation. I don't like to layer oil on top of water. Something dry and non oily to sponge off the top round in the mag/chamber is good too - like tissues from my pocket. It will stay damp unless the sun comes out. This wetness is why I don't put a fouler shot down my barrel. I like to start the day with a barrel that's been oiled then swabbed out as dry as I can get it so a film of oil staves off rust and water can be mostly got rid of with a dry patch or two down the bore.

Also, don't load your rounds up crazy hot !

Yes such good sense I couldn’t agree more. Also he was carrying the Tikka shouldered on the sling ie vertical whereas I was in front with the rifle horizontal in hand.
