Had a bit of a play around and compared the 135 classic at 3100fps I would like to get in the 6.5PRC, to my current load in my 260 Ackley. 130 VLD hunting at 2965fps

I used 450yrds. I would consider that the max range the rifle will be used on an animal.
Very rare not to be able to get closer where we hunt Thar and chamois. It is also rare for people I hunt with to be comfortable taking an animal beyond 300yrds.

Not much difference on the dial with the PRC an MOA less at 5.2 opposed to 6.2 in my rifle with typical atmospherics in the high country

But the PRC hits 200fps faster and over 300 ft-lbs harder.

Nothing in it at all as far as velocity just a bit more energy with a slightly heavier bullet.
Do one for 850yrds at sea level standard day. 1013.2 HPA and 15° c

I don't want it to be a stretch. I would like to do it comfortably.
I might even stick with the 130vld as it has performed really well in the 260 on animals so far.

Them 130s are good aye. I was just wondering what was going on here. I recall you said you'd never need another rifle other than the Blaser.......

They seem to be working really good so far.
Everything has been bang flop but I have personally only shot 1 or 2 out of say a dozen animals with them. That is why I want another rifle so I don't have to let other people use mine.

I was in this exact spot 4 years ago,
Jumped all over the show and then settled on 260 sako, was high use 900 animals in 3 years so I reckon your cal is pretty bang on.
The biggest issue you'll find is scope choice with multiple users rather than the cal or platform
I learnt the hard way that some people just cant get picture through some scopes,
Swaro Z5 was the worst, hope that helps ya.
