I have just bought this little .223 of my mate who replaced this with a 1/8 tikka.
I Chopped it down to 16 inch and put a dpt on it.
Any body using one with 55g hornady soft points and got an ideal load for this?
    Just getting a clean now.
    It's a nice little rifle I reckon

Go OK, only ever used factory ammo in em for what it's worth. Definite fit man's rifle, no lightweight qualities with them at all...

Nice that you haven't got the single set trigger - I preferred the standard as you have on that rifle.

    Greetings,
Is that one of the ex police ones from years back? They had the straight stock and a number stamped under the for end. Mine had quite a long throat but shot OK. Mag held about 8 rounds from memory.
    GPM.
PS From memory I used 26 grains of AR2206 behind the 55 grain not that that is much use to you as AR2206 is long gone.

I do a copy of the Belmont 55grn 223 for general stuff and for people's rifles I don't know.

    55 Hornady, 26.5 W748. 2.180" OAL. Velocity from 20" 3130fps so you could bank on a bit over 3k.

    Always seems to work ok.

I always wanted one of those! They didnt seem to get as much notice as the Fox, which I did have and stupidly worn out.

Funnily enough the mate I bought it oc reckons it came from the hunterville police station.
It has 72 stamped on if in a couple of places so thinking that could be the year.

in welly we all had them , shot well for first 6 and then blew out groups , had feeding issues due to controlled feed short round in a 308 length action should have a pop up peep site as well for back , if so use warn steel detachable rings then you have a nice rugged truck gun as the rings go back to zero well .

If I remember correctly the actions or perhaps barrel are factory stamped and I think my one was a 72. Mine was also stamped 10 under the fore arm tip which I think was a police issue number of some sort. A cobber had one too. His failed to extract so I swapped the bolts which did the trick and yes swapped back again too.

I recall the police ones' having a number hand etched on the underside of the bolt handle or such like.

Hi, I've had one since the early 90's, ex police. I've settled on a load of 23gr of ADI Bench 1 and pushing a Sierra 1365 of 55gr. I've shot a lot of wallaby with it as I lived in the Hake plus I've used it for Tahr culls, it's done a lot of work for me over the years. The biggest thing I found with this rifle is to keep it clean, as soon as you notice the groups spreading out, clean it. I spent a lot of time and effort trying to sort an accuracy problem that ended up being a dirty barrel !! With that said, if I had to have only one rifle it would be that 223, it's so versatile.

I worked on a few. I have seen some with reasonably straight barrels but I had one which was a shocker, with the rear of its chamber misaligned by more than 2mm with the true axis of the bore . It still shot under 2inches groups at 100m with factory stuff.
