Burris Signature HD 3-15's first day out.

So I imported one of these at a very good price. Stuck it onto my 18" barrel 7-08 Sako A7 shooting (at the moment) 139 SST at 2.8K (using R17). Previously had a 2-12 VX6 on it but things were beginning to look a bit small and the reticle was a bit thick - still a great 'scope though. So I have been replacing my scopes with a minimum of top end 15 power.

    Initial thoughts...

As bright and clear as the VX6, but the target's 1" red dot looks bigger (12x compared to 15x). Thats a bonus for old eyes.
Field of view seems slightly less at 12x than the VX6 but I doubt it will bother me.
It has a nice fine(er) duplex reticle and I can actually hold on the centre of the dot - the VX6 sort of covered it.
Ergonomics like getting in behind it and eye relief are all good.
The turrets have firmer clicks than the VX6's cds. It has zero stop, and pull up to rotate turrets - this is good. Like the Zeiss Z5. Very cool.
The turrets have slight play - like, wobble, but only when at rest and not when using.
I haven't set the zero stop yet but it looks simple enough.
The parallax dial is firm, and precise.

I bore sighted it before I went out and I fired one shot at about a 20 yards target and it was about an inch high, and central enough.
Back to 100 yards and fired 2 shots. 7" high high
Adjusted 7 MOA down and fired another shot - taking into account human error and MOA compared to inches it was spot on. Dialled up 1.75 Moa (where I wanted it). Single shot was spot on.

Fired at new target dot. 2 shots.Spot on. Bloody marvellous!

Its now all set up for an overnighter with the grandson during the school holidays next week.

Here are the targets. I'm impressed and it will do me.

2 shots 7' high, dialled down 7moa. Single shot. Then dial up 1.75moa. Single shot.

Two shots at 100 yards to validate.
