Bush Pig, Light, short Packs a punch.
Met one of those in Wanganui once... Nah nah nah my bad hang on she wasn't actually that light .................
"This is my Flag... Ill only have the one ..
Less recoil and a flatter trajectory there is nothing in NZ that needs more than a 265 - 300 gr bullet. The 45-70 is a lot of fun to use but has more power than needed with 400+ gr bullets its a close call but the 444 is slightly more versatile for my hunting. If going after NT Buff the 45-70 with a good 400 gr is better than 444 in my experiance. Both would work but bigger is better with something that can fight back.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.
My only issue with a single.shot is the need for a back.up shot.....it will happen and you will be farming around trying to find ammo etc, I don't recommend it for the average person. Even though have have shot one or 2 inbound.still fell unhappy not having a back up shot handy.
Chop a T3 to 16inches and suppress it. They're great set ups. Craigs is a 16inches version in 308 and mine.is 18 inch in 708. Great bush gun
I picture myself holding a spare round in my teeth for back up
My mate has been using the leverlution ammo in his 30-30 and loving it, has it scoped

If it really is bush hunting would you expect to get a second shot anyway

Newbie here..... I remember reading an Aussie hunting mag (Sporting Shooter?) many years ago where they (Nick Harvey I think) did a test firing different calibres through bush. The calibre that did the best was a 358 Winchester; I think they used a Miroku lever action and a 200 grain-ish round nose.... :-)
@Gibo, how is the search for the ultimate bush basher going ?
What have you fondled / fired ?
