Bushnell red dots - yeah or nah?

I've a 4x24 compact on my sks which is pretty average - just want a nice robust sight to bomb up goats.
I see these Bushnell red dots on traders - anyone know if they go ok?
1x40 Bushnell red/green dot scope | Trade Me

Sure there are expensive sights, but this is on a $279 sks..... don't want a diamond on a pig.

    cheers

Buy a cheapo version from Aliexpress for 1/5th the price. Might eventually shit out, but then you can buy 4 more and still be ahead $-wise.

Fark that. SKS spray enough without the sights making things worse.

My $30 reflex sight adds nothing to the inherent innacuracy.

I've got one of those TRS 42 (?) red dot Bushnells and it is ok out to say 70-90m max but a 4MOA dot is pretty big

At that price why ask advice?

I've a working scope on it at the moment - was just wondering if I will get any improvement at all.
$50 is just shy of another 100 rounds, so if I can save myself through advice why not ask?

Get the Vortex red dots (Strikefire II) if you can't afford/justify to the Mrs an Aimpoint, Eotech or Trijcon optics mortgage.
As they are the next best thing.

I have a Bushnell TRS-25 w/ 3MOA dot that has done tours on my AR, Benelli and 308 scout rifle, gotten wet, dropped, left on for weeks, and it's still going hard on it's first battery, a few years in. no fancy auto brightness or anything but you can make it blindingly bright if you need to, and dim enough to not flare in the middle of the night.

You can have this one for $80.
It is mint and goes well.
    Don't use it anymore.

This is what I have, and seems the same for me, really good inside 50yds, good to 75yds or so, 100yds max. Mind you the front sight post when I use irons is that size anyway. Now if I'd had or when I have more money I'll buy a better one, sure but its was $250 v $900 so I went $250. I do find it fun to use and it will be great for my wife to use when we are just plinking.

Mine has not given me any problems so far .Can't say anymore
They do take a bit of getting used and I have found it best to keep the sight close to the eye like a scope . And to use it as a scope because I seemed to have some parallex issues or maybe my old worn out eyes aren't as good as they once where.
