    Why the defence force???

It's a .22K Hornet in a very nice Sako Spud.

Always wanted one. My ideal fringe/creek rifle for deer and smaller game. Better than the standard hornet on brass and easier to get shooting accurately.
I hope it is not a hassle to get home as I am really, really keen on it. Maybe I should just get a temp licence as well.

I reckon the B709A form will do the trick, ask aus customs because they're the cunts to deal with. Took us 2 months to get our guns back from nz because of Australian customs. Your guys were great on that end

My temp permit doesn't authorize me to purchase any firearms.

ive taken guns into australia, all depends on the state, i have done queensland, NSW and Victoria. Its easy to get a gun out of Australia, its a little harder getting it into australia. As for buying it not sure, i no they dont accept NZ firearms licence when buying ammo, so im guessing its the same with guns? what state mate?

If you get it wrong, firearms confiscated, $275,000.00 max fine and I dare say a few nights behind bars.
The NT copper on the phone the other day said I could purchase ammo with a Temp FA Permit.
The B709A permit I have doesn't really state anything about exporting only importing what I bring in.

I will get it sorted one way or another.

Why not move here and just remove the hassle altogether?

ok so your going to buy the gun and then bring it back with you on the plane? piece of piss.
Will out a B957 (export decleration) allows you to take the firearm out of austrlia
And a RGP (restricted goods permit)
And a CMR 20040722 if you dont have a ABN number (if you have imported or exported firearms into australia before you will)

(we leave these forms at the airport in the customs office when we arrive, usually takes a few days to process them, then pick them up on our way home, you could just email them in im sure and get them at the airport)

Thats the getting the gun out of Aus bit.

Getting it into NZ is a piece of piss, you just need that pink form (forgotten name of it) needs to be stamped by police and lasts for a year. You can do that at the airport when you arrive, just sometimes takes awhile for a cop to finally turn up.

Pm me your email address if you like and i can give you the forms to look over.

I would presume that you would have problems in that you cannot possess it in Australia so you can't just "pick it up and take it to the airport" due to their registry etc

B709A's are for importing firearms into australia, actually just victoria specifically. All states have different forms for importation. NSW costs like $85AUS an application! And yeah i no what you mean about them being cunts.
