If mainly going to be a range rifle drilling paper may as well get a super accurate one. Stag model 6, or the .223 Wylde chambered Ar's with stainless heavier contoured barrels are the ones to look out for and also a nicer trigger groups than shit mil spec. They are normally a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for and cheaper than changing triggers etc later. Many of the ar's advertised as 3gun ar's have these features. Target sports had a ath 18" carbine well priced, would be a good one. Can then just drop a lighter weight cheaper mil spec upper for lighter weight in bush
