Thread: Buying optics from overseas

Im looking to buy a scope off the opticzone, has anyone recently purchased from there and if so were there any issues? I know this has been covered before bt thought id ask for any recent knowledge since anything to do with firearms is changing faster than i can keep up

I have an email from the Firearms Safety Authority dated 25/05/23 that states:

“ A scope and/or scope mount do not require permits to import into New Zealand, as they are not considered to be a part Pursuant to the Arms Act 1983. I trust this clarifies the matter for you. If you have any other queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us again, we’re always happy to assist.”

I subsequently bought a scope mount from Germany and received it with no issues, although the tracking info showed it was held up at the border for about a week.

No trouble. Just brought in a Tract 2.5-15 - here in a fortnight.

Perfect timing for this thread - booked a flight to UK soonish - wondering if I can pick up a thermal scope while over there - and sounds as no issue bringing back with me ?
