Yep all good got it sitting on the kitchen table. Got optilocks on the way from reloaders and I'll mount it on the weekend I guess. Never done that before for myself so if anyone has a good tip that would be great.

Optilocks ? If you're mounting it on a Sako make sure the mounts are snugged as far forward on the dovetails as you can get them and make sure the rear mount is seated properly and not rocking on the little recoil lug....easy peasy

Take it out of the box, and have the gunshop fit a set of second hand cheap worn rings on it, put a bit of tape or rubber tube on it to make it look used, take it outside and look through it at a target or deer or goose or whatever and it then becomes second hand. And dont carry any of the wrapping, or paperwork etc with you. Then you shouldnt have to pay any GST.
Or better yet if you're that fussed about the packaging or warranty then just post the box back

Yep.. done that a few times... as used sporting goods don't attract import taxes... even brought a mtn bike worth $5k as checked luggage.. just rubbed the tyres up well before I boxed it lol
