    Card Gustaf year of manufacture

Is there any way of telling the year of manufacture even reasonably approximate by the serial number on the side of the receiver
The year of manufacture should be on the top of the receiver but this is covered by a mounted scope and I really don't want to take it off.
The number on the receiver is
    52261
    Thanks.

Is it the Carl Gustaf Model 1900? I have some info here that might help, but a good pic of the action etc would help.

Do you know what model Carl Gustaf model you've got? If it's a Carl Gustaf 1900 hunting rifle, it was manufactured from around 1967 (then under the Husqvarna) sold to government owned Carl Gustaf in 1969 which produced the rifle until 1978/9 when production ceased. Unfortunately, that's not much help to you.

I assume you are talking about a military m96 actioned gat,not a commercial sporting m1900 gat.In that case the m96 was manufactured late 1927- mid 1928 and will be confirmed by a roll stamp on the left side of the receiver immediately following the serial # with the period
Swedish govt arsenal inspector,s initials. B.H.
