Ahh yes but just think of the number of times you've been out bunny blasting or small game in general and theres been multiple targets at varying ranges, just think of operating the bolt etc staying on target as oppossed to the opposite with a semi, staying on target, being able to adjust etc if you miss theres many many virtues of a reliable accurate semi...

Long range you say aye? why not grab yourself a 6.5 Grendle and off you go, supersonic to 1200m off the top of my head and being a 6.5 very high BC bullets and whats more dare I speak against my other pride enjoy it replicates 25-06 energy levels.... correct projectile selection and anythings toast!

Or you could grab a AR 10 in 308 and have cheap ammo whilst being effective to 800m...

or a subsonic platform in 300 AAC/blackout and lob 200gr 30cal projectiles silently and deadly at deer out to 200m.....

bush rifle you say? grab yourself a 6.8SPC and there you go 243 energy levels and it attains maximum velocity out of a 16" barrel, thats right only a 16!!

go crazy and have a shop around and by all means you can come and shoot mine and see what you think,if you are going to shop around..... though and this should be second nature, dont buy anything AR thats made in china, in other words Don't buy from gunshitty!!! I can put you onto a mate who imports Rock Rivers so flick me a PM if your keen!

    Enough said?

Because it's impossible to get decent parts for one in this country.

I pretty much don't maintain them at all, except for running a few patches down the bore now and then. They can be set up for LR with the right components. I'm planning on developing two loads for my Rock River carbine. A cheapish, generic hunting load for when it's wearing the Redfield 3-9 and a high BC load for reaching out further, when I decide what optic I want to use for that. Sorry if I misunderstood your post.
I don't get into the bush all that much, so it would get used at the range mostly. By LR i mean (eventually) 600+ I understand a .308 ar would do that, but no where near as accurately as a accurised rem for instance. I have a saiga in .223 it gets used and abused a lot, an ar would be the same, but for me an ar just wouldn't get enough use to justify it. In saying that if I were to take up service rifle, or military style shooting matches I'd buy one instantly, and who knows in a few years i might look at 3 gun, or similar? then I will get one, just right now, a 7mm mag rem 700 is a more practical firearm.
