    Cerakoting a blued rifle

    Happy New Year everyone.

Has anyone here cerakoted a blued rifle? I know it is normally stainless rifles that get it done but I have a couple of modern blued rifles (30-30 Dark and Howa 300blk) that are blued and I have noticed they are a bit harder to keep rust from starting on the outside compared to my stainless Tikka.

I appreciate I'll still have to keep interior of the barrel clean and oiled. That's no issue as I take a bore snake and some oil with me when I'm out but I'm just wanting something that will keep the exterior protected a bit better.

Just wondering if this is the best option.

    Cheers

Have had a couple of blued rifles ceracoated in the dark "blue" matt to look just like a blued rifle, came up great. Whoever is doing your ceracoating will lightly bead blast all the metal surfaces before coating, doesnt matter if its previously blued or stainless.

    Yep
I've had it done on a blued rifle - keeps the rust at bay.

You may find for the first wee while that lube is your friend on all moving parts if the rifle had close tolerances to start with!

Good colour option is socom blue, apparently this is close to original blue.
A few members have used this colour from what I have read.

    Hey @308mate,

Can help you out there, I coat a lot of blued rifles with Cerakote, no different than stainless.
Feel free to drop me a line or call 021494447 to discuss.
Check out the gallery, more coming... https://cerakotenz.co.nz/gallery/
