    Yes Sir.

But it went to a good place (Toby Auction) and I didn't need it taking up the safe.

Hopefully the recipient enjoys it like I did.

Hey MD, not being a dick, but are they rounds designed for hunting? Most of the subsonic 300 BLK rounds available in NZ are for target shooting with non-expanding projectiles. I do wonder if the bad rap subsonics get for hunting is in part due to inappropriate projectiles?

they both have their places I like my 300blk but that thing still hasnt had a supersonic round thru it yet,

the deciding factor if going Howa Mini is do you want a blued heavy barrel because thats the only way the howa mini come in 300blk

7.62x39 comes in the light weight and stainless barrel/action options

How loud are the subs without a suppressor?

300blk then you have the option of subs. I used to load coated lead subs in mine for plinking and shooting rabbits. There is purposed designed expanding subsonic ammo available, although it's hornady so may not be here at the moment.

Definitely more all round options than the x39.

My .308 is already quite short. More about having a play with new toys I reckon

I have a Ruger American 300BLK (16" barrel, DPT Can), even with supers a lot of people have said how surprised they are at how quiet it is. Even against a 223 the 300BLK seems much quieter (with supers).

subsonic without suppressor is similar to 22lr high velocity load.....if not quieter depending on load.

7.62x39 on account of cheap ammo and 2 friends owning each calibre you have talked about and both killing alot of deer. With subs the one who did commercial animal work reckons passed 70, even with reloads, 30cal subs are pointless and would have gone 45/70 if he had known(has since sold his BLK). The one with the x39 has a single shot baikal with a red dot and he loves it, all CNI sika/hybrids ,and smashes good stags with ease as well as getting the cheapest possible ammo.

Have the Ruger American x39 and Love it (bolts a bit sticky but that's ok). Used to shoot a lot of subsonic x39 on Pigs and deer. Just pulled the projectile on Military ball ammo and replaced the powder with pistol powder then re seated the ball projectile. Bullet tumbles on impact and ones I found had exited a deer rib cage were always sideways. Were pretty effective.
