Yeah, reason that I haven't changed over a thumbhole stock AK action of mine. Would like bigger mags and pistol grip, but not worth the hassle.

You can have a thumbhole stock E-Cat if you want.

Since this whole recent hooplar with all the laws, can you know make any rifle you want Ecat?
Before you had to destroy a current Ecat rifle to make a new one or import one. Or is it just in this grace period for pistol grip owners?

This is my understanding as well. 11 June was a cut off that allowed guns you already owned in A cat config that are being made E to be transferred to your E licence without the usual hoops Ie handing in another E Cat + $$.

The police don't want every man and his dog with 30 round E cats so I would say that after June 11 the old rules on making an E cat will still apply.

Hope everyone got in when they had the opportunity.......

I plan on getting an chinese M14 on to E in a few months, will be sure to press the issue if need be and relay details on here.

Last I had heard hand in were a thing of the past since the police got taken to court over it and lost.

I took my A-Cat Vepr in this morning to Auckland Central Police with the completed 67X form.
AO sighted rifle, checked number on receiver, signed form and said they would enter the details later and that it is now an E-cat.

    Easy.

At the end of the day, the Police are getting a win/win. They know more about what rifles are in the system when registered, rather than nothing under A-cat and they know these rifles are kept in more secure E-cat security.

    hello all
I had a conversation with my arms officer about putting my m305 on my e-cat.
I have to write a letter stating my intentions, fill a form out and send it to Wellington area commisioner.

I would ask for this policy (if it is actually policy and not his arbitrary requirement) in writing.

What he is asking for is not a requirement under the law. Your only requirement is to submit a completed POL67X. If you already have an E endorsement, there is no legal reason to deny your application.
