    Cheap wind meter or kestrel??

Sorry if this has been posted before but is it worth forking out for a kestrel or can someone recommend a cheapy that'll do the same job without falling to pieces or chewing through batteries??

I don't need a ballistic calculator as I have strelok on my phone and I'm not to worried about temp at this stage.

    Thanks in advance

Where's the best place to buy kestrel in NZ? Or are you best to ebay or amazon?

Just throw some grass in the air, count "1000 & One" for every meter it travels = 4kph, dead faken easy

you are way better with the kestrel as you get station air pressure and temp which are crucial when you start streching your legs and changing altitudes.
oh and it's a quality wind meter as well!

I have had one from Dick Smiths for years, works for me, temp wind and so on have been the same as kestrel but it doesn't have all the functionality...

Kerry at 'The GearLocker' or 'Precision Shooter' imports and sells them, give him a hola

Sweet I'll look into it tomorrow Double Shot. I was leaning towards spending a little more to get something decent, it seems to work out better in the long run.

I can get that data elsewhere. Do they not read the windspeed accurately?

The two cheap ones I had one a Windmate 3500 the turbine crapped out in less than a year and they expected me to purchase a new one the other very cheap from a local store just never worked well and chewed batteries. I now have a Kestrel 5000 and very happy.
