I'll bet you'll want to take a weatherby 224 mag home with you Foster.

BSA parts are hard to get or you can find a good gun maker that can machine/make the part from scratch.

It has a nice 3-9 on it now and is a dream to shoot. I sometimes get to borrow it....

Sorry, I was referring to their older target rifle based .222. I haven't kept up to speed on there being a new front locking model. My mistake.

Weirauch make some pretty little .222s. It’s hard to beat the perennial favourite here though, the L461:

When I think about it, I know where there is a brand new target / varmint Krico in 222. I remember spending time longing for it on display. Heavy barrel, target style stock, textured surface to the wood for grip.....Just cannot find a picture. Was about $3k from memory which is why I did not buy it.

I kinda regret selling mine. There were certain things I didn't like about it, but they're nice guns overall.

Agreed. Although I would say that they’ve got such a following, they’re at risk of being overhyped. I do like mine, the one you had was a bit too nice to use though!

Yeah it was a bit too pristine aye. I was considering refinishing it with more of a matt, oil-based finish, but that would have screwed with its value. People were fighting tooth and nail over it on Trademe lol. I think there are loads of ex forest service guys who want a mint one for nostalgic reasons. Once the old guard disappears, it'll be interesting to see whether the vixens retain their value or not. The fella who bought my one was in his early 20's. His old man had told him all about them.

    Re the 222
The Hunter must take top rank going on its resale value and appreciating rate
Has to be the BSA Hunter with a Schnabnel fore-end though and not had swivel torn out which happens to most that got used proper :-(

I have a 222 hunter, and a majestic. I enjoy older stuff for what it is but the new legacy is just better and will get more use because of it.
