I have a 222 hunter, and a majestic. I enjoy older stuff for what it is but the new legacy is just better and will get more use because of it.

He stated it was Beretta that was the issue, which implies he’s only talking about new sakos.

I did mean new Sako's, but I don't buy the Vixen mythology either, I've had a couple and preferred the BSA Hunter over them, but hey, each to his own . . . .

I think it's hard to pass up on a stunning Sako A1 or L461 as their a stunning rifle, lovely to carry and the actions are butter smooth. I have two so I'm happy

I also have a Sako 85 in .222 which I'm minding for a friend who is overseas for a few years. Personally I don't like it as it's heavy for what it is especially compared to older A1's and L461's.

I wish Sako had just kept building the A1 / L461

Another mini action wood / blue no one has yet to mention is the Kimber in .223

@Tentman another one I looked at briefly was the steyr classic. Serious shooters had a 9 twist with a very nice piece of walnut.

@Seventeeths I hear what you are saying about being heavy. Close to 25+ years ago a work colleague did some lightening on his Sako 243. Meant to be a lightweight but just wasn't.
Turned some profile off the barrel and took quite a bit of wood off the stock. Made a huge difference.
Don't remember what he did with the barrel channel or how well it shot afterwards though but he was very happy with the weight reduction and I would suggest it still shot ok.

Well - no Legacy's in the warehouse and none expected for 3-4 months . . . . bugger!

The older Steyr SL’s are very nice most are .222 but there is the odd .223 kicking around .

I have a Tikka M595, came in wood and blued.
I have put the wood stock in the loft and fitted a plastic one because the quad can be rough on wood.
I also got the metalwork cerakoted in black.
