    Splinter fore end done.
Fitted around the hanger bar and the action folds inside the end of it when it hinges.
It's perfect when carrying one handed because the ballence point is just in front or the guard / lever.

Just need to complete the barrel band sling mount for further out the barrel and its ready for the winter.

That's excellent workmanship there @akaroa1 I'm going to have to get you to make me one of those take down screws haha when I eventually get the pistol grip I'll have to figure out how long the screw will be. I finished my carbon fiber hangar bar and now my foregrip is floating and looking good.

Haha, my setup looks pretty much the same as it was in previous post (page 6), only I decided to lengthen the foregrip a bit. It has gotten a little bit lighter though, Jacinda brought my DPT and I upgraded to an Oceania Defense suppressor. I'll be sure to post up a picture when it's actually completed. The project is a bit stagnant at moment as I have to wait for the pistol grip to be imported, that time wait is out of my hands. I've had to use an import agent. Then I will complete the skeleton stock. Just a whisker over 2kg currently... I'd like to get it into the hills for a fast-pack style hike / hunt trip, but I want it completed first. Barrel band looks great @akaroa1

Just finished the G2 223 and my 375 Winchester G2 barrel arrived yesterday.
    So scope mounted
    Hanger bar made and fitted
Fore end made and being oiled now. It's a little fuller and longer because I'm going to hold on a little more because it will have more recoil and isn't going to be suppressed.
Another barrel band on the lathe now

Barrel is 21" tapered sporting weight and it will stay that length.
Does here first week of February
Three different weights of bullets already cast
    100 cases courtesy of @mikee
This one will be finished double quick.

A great looking workshop, that's the dream... How is the barrel band held in place @akaroa1?

@joelhenton It was a tight fit then I split the shank with a slitting saw
Fitted a turned down reduced shank and bored through cap screw for the sling to mount through.
Re profiled the shank to round and the bottom edge so the sling swings past the shank end.
A little bit of licktite and plenty of pressure on the cap screw and it won't be going anywhere.

The one for the 375 will be slightly smaller for the barrel taper.
It could also be done with a good grade of alloy.
But i have a heap of 416 ss and its nice to work with

Awesome rifles in this thread. I have been thinking about getting a backpack rifle for a while now and those contenders look great. Does anyone know where to get your hands on one? One might pop up for sale I guess.
Alternatively it would be interesting to see how much weight a Bergara BA13 could lose if it was put on a diet.

Here's my little take down. 2.4kg sans scope and rings. 2.8 all up.

    Shoots quite well too.
