I recently bought a Dewey rod from Gun City in Auckland. They bought it up from Wellington.

Cheers Danny I'm looking for a 30 cal and up and a 270/ well 6.5 and down, would prefer not to have to buy a separate 224 as well if possible.
Neil is letting me know what he still has in stock, if I can't get what I am used to there will look at the dewey or the bore tech

Dewey, Tipton and Boretech are all good rods. I have them all. Can't say one is better than the other. Dewey handles are fairly large and mightn't clear the top of the buttstock on some rifles so you either need to get a rod long enough or cut away about 40% of the handle length ways.

The handles are large but the rods can be bought in a variety of lengths up to 52 inches to avoid the problem you describe.

Correct. That's why I mentioned this in my previous post referring to the Dewey rods

Right , well Neil hasn't got anything so it's one of the others, workshop has the tipton.

Sure Danny.

Ended up with two of these at 40", caliber specific in that one went from 22 to 6.8 and the other 7mm to .40 something which will cover me till the Custom 12.7×108mm arrives, then I'll just use the shotgun kit.
Only thing is I had to buy new jags etc cause all my other stuff was Parker Hale
Didn't think about an adapter as aren't keen on joins in the first place so don't really want two.

Had a carbon fibre rod fracture while sizing a bore, shattered carbon fibre enters the body like a spear and doesn’t show up under X-ray, have to ultra sound to get out. Won’t be using fibre rods anymore, just lucky it was my mates hand and not mind, still has shards in his hand

Anyone had experience with the Accu-Tech or Pro Shot cleaning rods?

Seems to be slim pickings in NZ at the moment

I do like the spiral wind on Parker Hale diamond jags and the PH 22 patches but had to get a Tipton rod for the 17.

I got two new parker hale rods before xmas H and S here got them in I believe they got them from a company called SR Marston in Christchurch ( maybe Dunedin ) took a while but we got them

Leaning towards the Accu-Techs but have no experience with them - any insight would be great? ��

Just bought a pro shot to replace the rubbish Spika carbon cleaning rod I bought. The Spika is complete rubbish. The first one stripped the thread at the handle after a few months and the replacement, the carbon rod pulled out of the sleeve that it's glued? Into . Bought a pro shot and it's awesome. Feels like a well made piece of gear.
