I see you have C50 Pulsar NV, I also have one with the standard IR torch.
You mentioned a Maxtorch IR, but what model torch did you get.

I've almost bit the bullet and brought one to mess around with for the 308. More as an experiment that anything else.
Trying to work out if the more expensive units are worth the xtra cost.
After watching @Tahr youtube clips the Arken seems pretty good but I keep looking at the new HikMicro 4k units too but they come with no IR Illuminator so extra cost. Decisions decisions.

The 75 from hunt shop ,an adjustable mount is a must for long range , these lights are a game changer but also heavy and bulky

No integrated Ballistics/LRF on the Pulsar C50 sadly so deal breaker for me given its the most expensive of the current units here it seems.

I use a pard DS 35, a 007S and a 007SP. All of these units have a fantastic IR illuminator built in. with any of these units i can shoot out to around 350m and identify targets out to around 550m. I do sometimes use an extra IR light, on a very damp dewy night the IR performance is cut down quite a lot so an external IR can help. I also sometimes use a 940nm external torch vs the 850nm which is built into the units, this helps when animals start to click onto what that small red glow from the 850nm torch is all about. The important thing to understand about IR torches and performance is the difference between LED torches and Laser illuminators. the laser units far out perform the LED units in a much smaller, lighter package. The standard Pulsar IR torches are LED, i am not certain but I suspect that the Hawksight IR is an LED unit because of its bulk. I get my IR torches from these guys.

the Black Sun Dark Engine Blade torch is super compact and performs amazingly. I also have the V20 VCSEL in 940nm for close up more covert work. It is good gear at a very good price.

I wonder if or when there will be a thermal monocular or binocular that will do rangefinding as well, and transmit via bluetooth to the thermal or ir scope all the balistic corrections changes to be made on the reticle . That would reduce the bulk of the Scope quite a bit.

in theory using existing handheld thermal device you have range sorted......if you know your drops in thermal scope the bluetooth bit is redundant anyway....mildots etc perhaps...or dialup???

Im giving one of these a thorough testing and comparison with the Arken Zulus (Sytong HT-70). They are in the same price range. I will try it on something bigger than a .223 - likely my Kimber .257R.

I look forward to your feedback on the new Sytong. Certainly Arken have taken the market by storm with the Zulus, its hard to beat when you look at features and price.

On the right night I can identify animals at upto 2k away with my pulsar I’m pretty happy with that
