Perfect GM - same as mine (lefty)

Now you need to find some glass

The Omark was a project to convert to a 6.5 creedmore.... But now I have eyes for a 6.5 creedmore Tikka CTR with 24' barrel. As they do this in Lefty with Anshutz style palm swell and factory threaded- so the Omark is once again sitting around.

Has some OK glass on the current rifle that could get swapped over. What sort of magnification should I throw on, with reasonable quality glass, to get out to 1km?

EBF's your man, but he's at a comp today in Tauranga - his advice to me was 6-20+ mag - and good dialable vertical to reach out beyond with the 7rm. Reticle is important too. Throw on a 20 Moa rail too to add a bit more range before you get to top out where clicks get a bit more unreliable ( I got mine from waitaki for just over a hundy)! His are really dimensionally correct. I went vortex and sightron for mine.

14-16 power will get you to 1k easily enough. Leupold Vx3 4.5-14, Vortex 4-16, are all good places to start. I've had a Leupold VX III 4.5-14x40 LR and a Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x42 on my 7mm mag. The ability to dial accuratley is more important than magnification.

Currently has a 4-16 Vortex on the 243, so might flick that onto the 7mm RM. Then put the Pentax back on the 243 for hunting. Sounds like the Vortex was more than clear enough at the 585y target last year. Will get an order under way for a 20MOA rail.
