It'll be an off the shelf base with a break and some glass of some sort. The usual budget hunting stuff. I have my tight arse reputation to uphold.

Ballisticly never going to happen, 223 is a scaled down 308,243 is quite overbore in comparison.

Something in 7mm and some sort of magnum case would be a good next step I think.

She didn't like my suppressed 223. Said it was pushing her back so she started closing her eyes. That was when the 11-12mm groups at 100m opened up. We managed to get past that little hiccup.

I found with my 3 boys that got onto my 6.5x55 at age 7ish all enjoyed it suppressed and would keep asking more bullets dad!
I truly believe that in some case the noise and percussion of a break is worse for a kids shooting than the recoil of a can.
in saying that it's a dan can with a bit of volume.
my youngest shot a 50 Cal after nagging me at about age 10,
the look on his face when he pulled the trigger was priceless!

    So your remmag then?
I wouldnt encourage my kids to be too quick into a magnum. Plenty of things to master with a standard cal prior to that.
How far out does she want to get? Any of the 6.5s will get you way out with enough available clicks

A 7 Rem mag with a Terminator on it is pussy cat to shoot, less recoil than a light 243

The 6.5x47 here with a T2 moves back just 20mm in free recoil - outstanding.

    Excellent comparison video @Kiwi Greg

The T2 certainly tames the beast alright.

My personal opinion is go straight to the 7mm RM Gadget. Should be able to find a Howa or Tikka out there that should appeal to your Scottish Wallet.
With one of Greg's T2's - It'll be a pussycat - compared to her 243 (which I think covers the Gibo's point) Trigger lightened to 1.5-2lb, and polished (if needed)
The Go to brew of 2217, -72gr, match primers and 162 eld-x is pretty fabulous.

I have a Gen 4 hardy on my tikka 7RM but am saving pennies for one of Greg's because they're that good! Don't go suppressor - then want to shoot at a range as its frying pan hot after 3 shots.

I also have a old Omark 308 sitting in the safe that has just had its stock re-done and is in good order for a project if thats the way you'd potentially like to go as an alternate TR type of thing.

I've sorted a 7mm RM. Will be an extra 2" of barrel and a faster twist than mine. But the bolt will be on the wrong side, which she prefers.

Perfect GM - same as mine (lefty)

Now you need to find some glass

The Omark was a project to convert to a 6.5 creedmore.... But now I have eyes for a 6.5 creedmore Tikka CTR with 24' barrel. As they do this in Lefty with Anshutz style palm swell and factory threaded- so the Omark is once again sitting around.
