DO YOU HAVE A FIREARM WITH SOME INHERENT PROBLEM.

My two Sako Vixens L461's, purchased one in 71 and another in 75 have problem that appears to be common to all this model and I believe the Sako Forrester as well.

After heavy rain or when the rifle is saturated during bad river crossings it always pays to strip the bolt and dry it with rag or toilet paper otherwise it will seriously misfire. I believe the firing pin sets up some sort of hydraulic action owing to fairly tight tolerances inside the bolt.

It only ever happens rarely and the rifle need to be soaking wet for many hours before it is likely to misfire. I can remember at least three times a misfire that had me stripping and drying the firing pin watched by a very suspicious deer.

The above hasn't happened to me for a few years now as I have got cunning and don't hunt in heavy rain and I don't mess with flooded rivers anymore.

Anshultz .22 with the cheap sliding pin type bolt and cocking latch arrangement? The amount of times Ive actioned the bolt for it not to latch and jamb up! Have to disassemble and recock by hand to get it working again. Love my anschultz, have a .22 ana .17 hmr both with model 54 type actions.the cheap action is just that cheap!

Don't tell him that!!! I'm taking enough on our trip next week to overload a D model. He now will be thinking of doubling that.

Yes ONYVA the Steyr was a weapon that did a good job and their owners were always fond of them. It had a problem though that I remember with the handgrip/pistol grip. it was quite fine and slim, fitting the hand really well. What used to happen if you took a fall and the butt went down on a tussock clump it would snap through the grip. The stock was expensive to replace to.

Does this description fit the woodwork on your rifle ONYVA.

All of my rifles suffer the same inherent problem.
They inherited me behind the trigger
