Im not a gunsmith or even a machinist Spanners.Naturally a thread and or crown should be true to the centerline of the bore.
I just found it interesting that it had obviously been profiled, then bent somehow, then drilled and rifeled and sold

Tell me again why I sold that barrel? Stupid Sako.
Like Adam says most barrels are bent even more factory barrels since they are forged an not profiled after the bores an rifling is done.
Just cheap rifles are cheap for a reason they cut corners but you get what you pay for

Yes Im well aware of that Adam This one wouldn't even roll along a bench it was that bent and was obvious at a glance, where it was cut(pig hunters bail gun) wall thickness was like 3mm one side 7mm the other!
If you looked down the outside of the barrel it was bent, If you looked down the bore it was straight hence the bore not in the center of the barrel in the middle

Here's an interesting clip showing bent/run out barrels.

I've cut a few norinco barrels down in the last 2yrs (.22 and centrefire) it's always interesting to see how offcentre the bore is at the point I cut it, its certainly never been centred.

Even scarier is a shotgun barrel, when I've cut them down (and not for robbing banks with...haha) they are often very very very thin on one side. So I start long and work backwards to find a relatively concentric point to stop at. But who knows what's really lurking in the rest of the barrel...ignorance is bliss in this case? And yes you do tend to get what you pay for too.

Just thought I would jump into this thread and say that I know nothing about rifle barrels except that the projectile comes out the front end with the hole in it. I know shit loads about beer barrels though. If you need any help with one or two of those then I am your man.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
