    I'd echo the thoughts above about performance by CarlsenH. With a few exceptions, most bullets are designed to open up properly at a velocity bandwidth that was worked out from the projectile exiting a 24 inch barrel at the cartridge's near maximum speed.

    The other thing people often don't consider is point-ability. Short rifles often come up fast but are unsteady to hold still. Not enough weight out the front. Proper fit & balance are important factors in rifles, they are often overlooked.
