I tried heaps of different moisture absorbers and products but I found nothing worked as good as hanging one of these things on the inner door of my safe via a hook. It is amazing how much moisture they collect, every 2 - 3 months it is full.

The tub versions like below are okay but they don't collect as much I find, I still stick one of these in the bottom of my safe but it is much slower to fill up. I think the hanging bag version above works better as it sits parallel to the rifles vs just at the bottom of the safe. Since putting the bag in I've had zero issues with surface rust/moisture issues on anything.

Just be careful not to accidentally rip the bag open when you shut the door....don't ask how I know this.

It doesn’t need “recharging very often, only a few times a year.
&1, also have a 230v cupboard heater, NZ made by outfit in Northcote Auckland.

Plenty of options but I would wire in a temperature controller of some sort. There’s even USB powered heat pads.

I used a rubber cabinet heat pad, and a panel heater, that was made to be used under a home brew vessel.

I had a bit of an issue with moisture in one of my safes, ended up lifting the safe a few inches off the ground with 2 bits of 4x2 and installing a pc power supply 12v can that provides positive pressure flowing into the safe 24/7, has worked perfectly for the last 4 years. My other safe is right beside it and never had the issue, but its a nice big Liberty so that probably explains it.

I have the same unit as Cigar describes which is a great we unit.

I found I was having to dry the crystals out every 4-6 months but since the under-flooring has been insulated the house is warmer and the crystals are only getting dried out every 12 months or more.

The wife likes those damp packs as mentioned above for hanging in the wardrobe… they hold a shitload of water once full!
