I think the ATA you were asking about will be a better choice.
Certainly the 12ga escorts have a rough history.
Thanks BF, I missed out on the ATA, just putting a few feelers out, thinking of getting a 20g semi auto, but there pricey, and as as it wont be used that much, dont want to buy a dud!

I used mine for duck shooting this year for the first time, other than possums/magpies etc. Had a lot of fun with it, the only gripe is that it only holds 2 in the mag due to a crimp. Appears that it can be easily modified which ill get around to doing at some stage.Other than that I've had no issues.
Big thanks for all your opinions, might just get it, wont see that much action im afraid!!!!!!

Best place for "Escorts" is on Manchester Street or K Road.
A couple of my mates have em (the shotgun not the other type) and they worked great the first season but not so great the second or third. If you plan on volume shooting there might be a better brand (anything).

Escorts are ok ..what is needed for them to work properly is proper Maintenence and quality ammo, no half arsed, half resized reloads
One of the guys in the Vineyard uses one for bird control and as long as he keeps it clean it works well , the agents have plenty of parts if needed
Get as close as you can then six feet closer
i bought a YILDIZ 12g semi 2 months ago works perfectly, light weight, holds 4 plus one in the chamber, easy to clean, would def buy another one got thif from hammils on a deal of $650 with 2 boxes of ammo an a gun bag
ive used an escort12g for my main gun for 5yrs now and apart from the odd malfunction (usually bloody easily remedied in the mancave) its been chuggin along nicely.
as someone said -maintainence is the all important factor.Mine is the early model -2stage manual regulator, fitted with extended mag(8 x2 3/4 rds ;7x 3"rds).it was at least 3-5yrs old when i bought it.Ive just replaced the gas piston which fractured round a thread cut in the steel body -little wonder after years of hi impacts.mind you was lucky to get given a box of spares courtesy of a kind gent from down south.the rubber ring -it broke so slapped a replacemnt similar sized "O"ring outta my supply in my toolbox-ol girl bellows away to her hearts content.
The major problem was the bars on the bolt carrier -if the mag tube is allowed to get shit built up on it the carrier will bind under pressure of recycling action and bend these.
Mine was aslso finnicky with trap ammo ,but a bit of a yarn with heldful people and i have a very bloody excellent ammo combo which sees the old girl nailing clays regularly.
Ihave a review of the escort 20g in my file if someone is interested will post.
big thanks for your opinions guys
