Political correctness would be arguing the need for pistols, MSSA and C-cat firearms in NZ. Asking how illegal it is to shoot a C-Cat firearm when the law says you can't is stupid, just like how far under the minimum length of a rifle you can go before you get in trouble.

If a person wants to ask a question they shouldn't be castigated for their lack of knowledge by others who have more knowledge. If that carries on then the whole forum is fucked.
The answer to the initial question can be addressed as follows:
The applicant wishes to shoot a C cat firearm with knowledge that this activity is illegal under NZ law and wishes to know how rigorously that law will be enforced and breaches punished.
What do the courts say on this matter :
Then quote the case law - which someone else has done here already.

Remember Parliament makes the laws not the Police. The Police enforce those laws but have the power of 'discretion' in minor matters. It is the courts that decide what the punishment is. If the applicant sees from the case law that the punishment is a $100 fine they might consider that it's worth the risk - just the same as when every person on here speeds to get to a hunting spot at 4am.

Nope. The question I asked was, what the CONSEQUENCE would be IF the SHOTGUN turned out a few mm short of legal length with a pistol grip fitted. An innocence enough query I thought at the time, as the penalty for various/the same crime, in NZ varies hugely. For most people who are not motivated by politically correctness and hell bent on appearing so, wouldn't give a toss. Get over it, there are bigger problems out there.

If we really want to get all wanky about it you could say the majority of quetions on here are stupid and if we get homos here wanting to get all negative about it just brings the whole forum down instead of trying to prove how bigger dickbag you can be in a post dont bother posting sure for most of it you can Google your question but asking on here usually generates some conversation and different points of view and helps us get to know each other if you didnt have the questions this place would die

Exactly, What may sound stupid to some people may help others. I'm just amazed that this thread has gone this far.
It's now devolved into people arguing about how to argue.

hehe, been away for a couple of days and reading all the replies after the fact is pretty funny.

really depends on how much you value your firearms license, and as others have stated - easy enough to go to Vegas or Cambodia and get your rocks off if full-auto is your thing.

always amazes me how silly some firearms owners can be about breaking the rules. seen several A-cat guys using E-cat mags at field/hunting events and think nothing of it. at a recent comp for a different discipline I went to, one of the guys had an obviously too short firearm and was quite proud to admit that he did not have a B endorsement. kinda boggles the mind, it is really not that hard to get the correct endorsement and do things the right way...

Yeah I gave it a crack in USSR in 1994, honestly it was quite boring in the end, once you have dumped a mag or 2 its like "ök what now"
Never took up the offer of firing a Tank main gun (wish I had now). Best thing was arranging to have a crack on the controls of the company Mil 8 for a carton of smokes. Lets just say I am not a natural needs more practice there

Not just unhelpful on the forum, also for families, workplaces, places of study.

From where I was reading, it was not so much castigation for "lack of knowledge", but for actually knowing the rule and sounding like contemplating breaking it - hypothetically of course. (-:

Is there such a thing as a "natural" heli pilot ?

I've always thought they are all slightly insane and have a screw-or-3 loose

The only issue is just about everyone drives or has a car. You get caught and it is just someone getting a speeding ticket.

Getting caught doing something illegal with a firearm, and more so if you actually have a firearms licence, has greater repercussions than the speeding ticket.
All manner of shit starts to fall on all the rest of legal firearm owners.
The media makes a meal of it and wrings out every salacious detail, in essence scare-mongering.......its what sells news.
The general public once more start questioning why we have firearms in the first place.
The hand wringing phobic anti gun lobby start rattling politicians cages.
The Police have further ammunition - no pun intended - for their view of tighter firearm control.

Want a thrill? Get in a car on a lonely back country road and go for it.
But before you go to get your thrill with a firearm, think about the far reaching consequences if you do get caught.

Am I making sense or am I a bit over the top? Feel free to "sanity check" me.
Worse still you’ll get posted on here by systolic
