Well, I'm not aware if IV88 and Eric Pettway were ever involved in daily skirmishes with terrorists in the Angolan bush or urban mayhem some place else, whilst testing the accuracy of full auto selected guns, if they were, they would certainly confess to their dismal hit rate. The only practical and destructive auto gun is one that is one mounted on a pivot/bipod with lots of ammo...unless someone accurate is shooting back at you in semi auto.
The IV in IV88 stands for "iraq veteran" so yeah he's been involved in it, and yeah he says full auto fire is uesless. He does say the exact same thing I said though, which is that short controlled several round bursts with full auto is plenty accurate and viable.
3-5 round bursts is how we were taught. Amazing how many rounds down range fairly accurately if using that method. In theory firing any more than that in a string is pointless anyhow as it becomes "spray and pray". However in a CQB situation I would personally rather have a shit load of lead in the opponent than in myself. But this isn't the forum for those discussions I think.
As for the OP, fair play it has caused banter. However there are no shades of legality. It is either one or the other. On another note when you are reloading drums/belts etc it gets pretty fucken boring fast.
He was a specialist in the National Guard and his tour was in 2005, his name is Eric Blandford if you want to google, there are a bunch of articles and interviews about/with him. He has the biggest gun channel on YouTube so I'm surprised you guys seem to not know who I'm talking about.

He was also the man behind the curtain who made FPSRussia a thing.
Showing your age a bit there bud.
I had assumed at least a few people on here would be firearm hobbyists and not just "simple hunters & target shooters", which I am still sure is correct. You're not going to find a 40 minute mini documentary on obscure milserp guns and the history and engineering behind them on a dinky little forum. Or highly detailed reloading data and comparisons, detailed ammo performance tests and comparisons, or gunsmithing guides from an actual gunsmith. IV88 has all that though. But I mean if your guys interest in firearms only goes as far as shooting cans and sharing pictures of dead animals on a forum then that's fine, whatever you're into my man ^_^

I've never seen so many shades of legality in NZ law unfortunately. I've also never ever seen a bored person load a belt bored, except in rear echelon or just kicking the shit. Loading a belt in my experience was a dire necessity and was not accounted for, as in an unexpected fire fight.
I have fired full auto for the government and I could hit a man sized target at 100m several times in a short burst, but I was probably the only one who could hit it with more than the first shot. But then, my outfit were hardly combat hardened. They taught us the first response to anything was a full mag on full auto. I privately decided I would have no use for full auto for anything other than such a response, or what is called suppressing fire, or exploratory fire. But then for house clearing and suchlike, I would want a PPSH. And grenades. Or better yet, a full and accommodating peace agreement.
