I was thinking exactly the same thing. Standby for a rule change under regulations in council I'd suggest! This is another example of why the current setup is too bloody labour intensive by far - every time something new comes out there has to be a reaction in rules. Just because a mag is P-restricted shouldn't create a heap of drama elsewhere, but...
If you had the need, a good toy though. I'd wonder about the cross over to a shotgun platform in these cases though, a slug load you can reload yourself to save costs would probably not run much more than WMR???
As soon as you have a high capacity mag for a firearm it becomes a P endorsement firearm (regardless of what capacity mag is in it) and can only be used for P endorsement activities. I looked at getting a P endorsement and a mag extension for my shotgun for goose hunting, but I was told that then I couldn't use it for duck shooting.

@Rich007 did you clarify that with PNHQ? I fully understand that a shotgun wiht a fixed mag exceeding 5 rds is P only, but is there any legislation for a firearms wiht a detachable magazine, which is A cat with 10rd, but P cat with more than 10? I have not seen this answered in the legislation but could have missed something.
@Roamr things may have changed but certainly when P1/2 was started in 2019/20 22lr mags were restricted to 10rds only, on the assumption it is easy enough to carry multiple loaded mags. I agree I don't think this was in legislation but the police would not issue import permits for more than 10rds. I assumed at the time that this was to avoid the confusion we had wiht A vs E cat semi autos, where the only significant difference was the mag capacity. It made sense that all semi auto rimfires were to be A cat only, and all semi atuo centrefires to be P only, but with so many pest controlers using these rifles it made me wonder if the rules had changed and more than 10rd mags were allowed.

I got this from the Firearms Safety Authority. I didn't ask about firearms with detachable magazines, but don't think it would be any different. The point was that I couldn't take the magazine extension off and use it for duckshooting as it would be a P endorsement firearm

Used the Magnum Tippmann for a club service rifle match today. We had a strong headwind that was switching from 11 to 2 O'clock. I was shooting with a 4x Acog and Armscor 40gr ammo. It is easily competitive at 100m, no issue getting V's at 200m. A bit dicey in the wind at 300m but still managed to get 8/10 on a Fig 11. A 223 easily beats it at this range but that isn't rocket science.
I suppose they will be open class in service rifle as they don't fit into any other category. 5, 600 be a stretch.
