Ghost silencer bush, do I need one?

I have just purchased a package deal 223 with a 30cal modular silencer. I have noticed when screwed on there is a large gap (good 6mm all round) between silencer and barrel.

Have looked on website and can see that a blank bush is available.

Will be using on the range initially but suspect would need one for bush bashing etc.

    What do you think?

Also, I don't have access to a machine shop, should I get it predrilled, if that's a thing?

I'm doing this as we "speak" with fine wet and dry paper though. It's taking too long!

You could try contacting the manufacturer and ask if they will do it for you. DPT do it free of charge. Otherwise there is FSS Precision in Whangarei.

Go to your local hardware or engineering supplies store and get some 60 or 80 grit, finish it off with the fine wet & dry

I just need a little more material off. It's already been back to DPT. Looks like it's just touching the barrel in one area. Hard to tell though. Also, I'm a shocker for overdoing stuff, so slow and steady!

My DPT bush is a very tight fit on my howa mini. Worth opening up? I see DPT themselves recommend 0.5mm gap all round.

Suppressor bush not in contact with the barrel or in full contact with the barrel all the way around is my understanding. That said, if your rifle shoots well, no problem!

DPT say 0.05mm clearance. Not sure I could even see that!

I would be happy to help bore it out on the lathe if you get the new bush. FYI they must be a good clearance on the barrel, I have many barrel off cuts here where the bore is not concentric to the outer diameter which would in effect lead to tipping the can...anyway we can discuss that if you want to get in touch....cheers Darren 021 223 8222

Nothing to think about, easy job in the lathe and I would do for free while you wait :-).....I have a long line of customers who had a go with a file or sand paper ha ha ha
