If your rifle is able to shoot .6 MOA already with factory ammo, I would invest time and money into your (long range) shooting technique and practice which will be a future investment independent to the rifle.
And if you think you can out-shoot your current rifle going down that road, buy a better one with a better scope and get that bedded to find yourself on a totally different skill level.
0.6MOA @ 600m is 9cm. Lets say you get that down to a unrealistically 0.3MOA with bedding, that means 4.5cm @600m. In a 308 you get that variation with a wind change of only 1mph.
Personally I find the guy pulling the trigger has the way bigger influence vs a bedding job. But a bedding job is done quick, feels good and satisfies our need for action in a short time frame.
Regarding releasing agent question above - a liberal coating of car wax has worked fine for me.
I mucked round a fair bit in prep- made some custom blanking blocks for the stock trigger recess/ action trigger mount recess

There's a few things I'll do differently next time. The stock looked like some dude has used a woodpecker to do the inletting back in the factory. The magazine housing was angled foward as well so even though the furniture wax worked there was a bit of mechanical keying. Eventually got the action out and done a bit of easing with the dremel. Had to use bluetack instead of plasticene which didn't work out the best.
Ive always used a good coat of hornady one shot case lube
Has always worked well sometimes needs a light tap with a rubber hammer
But never Difficult
