I use a second hand or is it a new 50 buck scope…seems to work. To be fair I don’t usually further than 40-50 meters with it.

Everyone has their own shooting style but for me 22LR is a short range round, so high magnificaiton is not required. I used irons until I accidentally broke most of the front sight off my 10/22, now I use a 1.5-4X variable and it stays on 1.5X all the time. 9X mag (or more) on a 10/22 would be impossible to use for me.
I've only used Nikko Stirling fixed 4x on my 22s they hold zero and seems to do the job. The old man uses the same on his 22 magnum and has for many years. 100m shots still fine but 2-7 would be nice for the magnum.
When I bought my 7mm rem mag it came as a package with a borris 3x9 by 40, I put a Z5 on the Rem mag and put the Borris on the 10/22.
I love laying down with the thing screwed right up coming up to dusk and nailing head shots on bunnies as the wee buggers pop up everywhere.
