Thread: Got 1K to invest in a scope

For a hot 22 centrefire. Won't be taking shots beyond 400m. Has to be inch tube. It'll be the most I have ever spent on a scope, but my 20 year old Burris is losing its zero on a regular basis. Plus I want better glass.

Interested in peoples thoughts/experiences??

I have a Burris Black Diamond 4-16x50 with BallPlex reticle. 25mm tube, beautiful glass, excellent in low light. Came off my Martini .17HMR.

First off send your old Burris back under warranty, over the years they & Loopy have been outstanding to deal with on no questions asked warranty service,l would even ask if rather than repair would they offer a discount on a new purchase as no harm in trying & their high end scopes offer great glass now,personally would not hamstring myself by limiting to only old tech 25mm, as if the reason to upgrade is to get decent optics a lot will now be 30mm etc .

Then to a new purchase @Sarvo had a great deal on a top of the line Burris Signature HD 5-25x50 for under a Grand a few days ago , l nearly brought it myself except l already have a "back up"scope in the power range .He may also have something else on offer from his range of scopes,l have found him very good to deal with, apart from not being able to remember anything past his last shit .

Take care with the GPO. They are good but some of their models (mainly the higher end ones) dial up clockwise (rather than anti- clockwise like normal), and are in Mils rather than MOA.

Have a lovely piece of Loopy glass now. Trouble is the rifle is shooting all over the place like a mad woman's shit. So its going to be back to basics: Bed the action, etc etc etc.

Believe me, glass and its coatings have changed for the better over the last 20 years. I think you are right about wanting to make a change. You want a 1inch tube I assume because you don't want to swap out the rings you have? You don't mention if you want exposed turrets to dial out the drops or not? I have been on the Meopta bandwagon for quite some time now and continue to be a big fan. Mainly because you get a lot of quality for your money from a European company that is known for glass and quality products. I don't think you need to drop a grand to get something decent for your rimfire. I love the Meopta Optika5 4-20x50 Z-Plus reticle scope. You can dial in your drops using the Z-Plus reticle and Strelok Pro App. At under $500 it is a bargin.

I find my clockwise scopes much more intuitive.
Numbered elevation adjustments that increase left to right sequentially when viewed from behind the rifle must suit how my brain is wired.
I cope fine with my American scopes that adjust the opposite way, just find the European clockwise requires less thought when dialling.

Prefer Mils, reckon I could cope with MOA, but yards and inches should be illegal.

I can understand that. Im just so used to anti clock wise for up I would be bound to wind one the wrong way.
