Privately owned firearm stats for comparison
    USA 279,000,000
    Russia 13,000,000
    SAF 6,000,000
    UK 4,000,000
    Aussie 3,050,000
    Nz 1,200,000

    Nz ranked 54 th

22 if population is considered with an annual importation trade value of USD$18,000,000 only.

Mil owned I don't think we would be up there maybe a couple. I really didnt think we were right up there on the valued customers list either. Though I am likely wrong.

Simple. Don't buy and put them out of business. Imagine if the government start taxing firarms like smokes or alcohol price would go through the roof.

Mark up on cars currently is obsurd what about Supermarkets? Gun city, hunting and fishing the same as progressive or foodstuffs. Cornered market and dictation of the supply channel. Ammo sales and consumerable products maybe where they are making most sales. do you really think they can run a machine that big on just rifle sales? They would have to turn over a shit load of guns annually I would have thought?

Even with the extra coin it's convenient hence why I don't think people will quit purchasing from them. The market dictates the market sales rate and price of products.

The thing is those little guys can kick arse on price , but can't advertise the fact they can, and you have to pay cash . It's like car sales if you got cash you'll save heaps , but if you go to a big franchise youl pay dearly. So if you got no money and want a gun now you can get one , if you pay 10% more most don't care . Can't knock them for that . Selling shit prouducts that another story

Shooters World have a drip feed option, they take a small deposit and you pay it off. You pay $30 to cover bank charges and that's it, no interest or other fees. It's done by Shooters World themselves.
If its guns, tits or tyres it's going to cost you lots of money

I love the attitude "blah blah NZ's a small market, fair markup" blah blah "dont buy from them and put them out of business" - That is EXACTLY what most people here are trying to do

If you are so happy getting reamed with a monster dildo then please do take a trip to Gun Shitty CCH and they will happily give it a twist for you. Yes, they are a successful business, have some nice gear on the shelf and some people just dont care about paying a bit extra for convenience (myself included occasionally). But they are so far outside of normal margins on many items I simply have no idea why anybody with more than one brain cell would support their business model. Dont forget that GC import most of their own stuff and so have fewer importer / distributor type of markups - they could be running a "reloaders supplies" type of model, not be shafting people and probably build a bigger business at the same time.

I had 1/2 an hour to kill the other day and went in for a look - and actually saw a dude buying an AR15 from them (+ mount + scope + ammo). I didn't get a chance to ask if he had taken the time to shop around, but lets assume that he paid: $4500 for a $2000 AR, $450 for a $300 VX1, $300 for a $50 mount etc etc thats a fair old price to pay for convenience! Totally ignoring the fact that $2k is STILL annoyingly expensive for a budget AR compared to US market prices how is that not a rip off?

    with a vx3 2.5-8 in top.

it really is a step up from a NEA. not trying to talk them down, but their triggers are very average and when the dust cover gouges the lower if you leave it open when re assembeling, that is just not on. specially when you do it to your mates rifle. while he is watching..........
